Increasing Innovation Capacity in Greater Trail

In January 2003, KAST initiated a project entitled Increasing
Innovation Capacity in Greater Trail. The project is in support of the
Lower Columbia Congress Development Team's interest in an Innovation
Centre. The project involves researching existing models on innovation
centres, organizing a focus group, and compiling the results of the
research and focus group into a report.
KAST brought together community stakeholders in order to explain
the proposed project and build community support. As part of the
project KAST organized a focus group session with local companies in
order to gather input from them related to their experiences as
technology entrepreneurs. The primary objective of the session was to
obtain input regarding potential actions that could be taken to promote
innovation. KAST then completed the Research Report and distributed it
to community stakeholders.
KAST then convened a meeting of the stakeholders to review research
findings, and consider potential future actions. A Meeting Report was
prepared and distributed to the stakeholders. Both reports were
submitted to the Lower Columbia Community Development Team for their
consideration.
