CFI Emerging Science Journalists Award
The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) is looking for great story ideas about the cutting-edge science being conducted in institutions across the country.
If you’re a student in a journalism or science communications program in Canada, this is your chance to get creative and get funded to produce a compelling piece of science journalism.
Here’s what you need to know:
Who?University and college students in Canada interested in communicating science to the public
What?Up to two $2,500 awards for the best proposals — or “pitches” — for an in-depth journalistic piece
Where?At any of the 131 institutions across Canada funded by the CFI. (You have some 7,300 researchprojectsacross Canada from which to choose.)
When?Apply by February 3, 2012. Awards will be announced April 2012.
Why?To encourage the next generation of science journalists and communicators
