Kootenay Contraption Contest
Every winter, KAST and title sponsor FortisBC proudly host the Kootenay Contraption Contest, where students in Grades 2-8 are invited to imagine and design a “contraption” that solves some future problem. Open to students in School Districts 51, 20, 10 and 8.
2011’s problem was: “Imagine the year is 2050. Thinking about energy, how will we heat and cool our homes and cook our food?”
THANK YOU for 116 fantastic 2011 contraptions.
Generally, we are looking for imagination and creative problem-solving efforts. Maybe a little fun.
Contraptions can be built and videotaped, graphically designed, or drawn. They do not necessarily have to work, though their purpose and some description of HOW this contraption will solve the problem is required. Digital formatting is preferred.
